In store for this important event hosted under the auspices of full member SVITZER is a combination of an enchanting city rich in culture and history, an interesting and thought provoking conference theme; a busy agenda for discussion at the meetings and last but not least local traditionally oriented entertainment; all of which providing an excellent opportunity to bring members and guests to meet and network over a unique three days from the 11th May to the 13th May. The 2016 ETA conference ‘The Changing Face of the European Towage Industry: Challenges or Opportunities’ will be looking into the current changing trends that the towage industry is facing, the upcoming challenges or opportunities, broadly looked at from the regulatory/legal, market, commercial, technical and operational perspective. The Conference programme will be published shortly.
Every year the Annual Meeting offers an opportunity for the European operators and other important stakeholders in the towage industry to meet with a view to discuss topics that directly affect the sector. It is also a great opportunity to network. As a very encouraging participation has already been signified from both Full members as well as Associate Members, a sizeable attendance of participants is expected to converge to Edinburgh for this year’s events. Participants’ attention is being drawn to the following details:
Lodging shall be at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel (“the Caledonian”) situated in the heart of the city.
The hosting city has a tremendous wealth of history and archaeology, and therefore some landmarks are not to be missed. One of our tours on the 11th May will in fact take us on a visit to the Edinburgh Castle, the Scottish Parliament Building, Holyrood Palace and the New Town.
The welcome dinner, sponsored by our host company Svitzer, shall be held at The Caves, an enchanting event venue where participants shall savour some Scottish delicacies, sample some great single malts and dance to authentic Scottish music.
The Conference shall be held at the Edinburgh First, the University of Edinburgh, on the 12th May. It shall then be followed by the always sought after gala evening which shall be held at the most remarkable venue, the Royal Yacht Britannia, where all the guests will not only be treated to excellent food but they shall also have the opportunity to visit this beautiful historic icon.
The last day, the “Social Day”, will be equally enthralling as the other two days with a programme packed with activities to match the tastes of everyone, including Falconry display, highland games, whiskey tasting and much more.
The Annual Meeting is open to members and invitees only.
Members have received an invitation with registration forms.
